updated Oct 16, 2020

If you want to make money blogging with display ads, you may have heard of Monumetric before. They’re a managed ad network you can join to boost your passive income easily. But before you join them, it’s a good idea to be aware of a few Monumetric requirements for bloggers.

As it turns out, joining Monumetric is super easy and they make for a great AdSense or Mediavine alternative, for example. Their requirements and policies are easy to follow and fulfill–and I’m here to help you out!

This Monumetric requirements article takes you through the most important points to consider before you apply. I’ll also shed some light on how my sites are performing.

(This article fills in a few gaps in my earlier Monumetric review post – check it out for more deets!)

What is Monumetric (formerly The Blogger Network)?

Some time ago, I switched one medium-sized blog of mine from Google AdSense over to Monumetric.

Basically, it’s a high-performing display ad network that takes care of all the heavy lifting for you. All you need to do is give them access to your WordPress dashboard and they’ll do the rest.

But what makes Monumetric different from other display ad networks, then?

So far, I’ve had a positive experience with them. Here are just a few of the key benefits they offer:

  1. High earnings:
After switching from AdSense to Monumetric, my ad income grew 10-fold. Not kidding!
  2. Personal support:
You’ll discuss your initial ad strategy with a real human being–something I could never do with AdSense, for example.
  3. Easy ad implementation:
In fact, you don’t need to lift a finger. They’ll take care of ad placement and ad code embedding on your blog.
  4. Multiple ad unit options:
Choose from a variety of positions and ad units to maximize your earnings. Or simply let your personal rep do it for you. After all, they’re the experts, right?
  5. Fast-loading ads:
Their ads won’t slow down your blog as much as with some other networks. (Great for SEO!)

So far so good! Let’s jump right into the most essential requirements to join Monumetric.

Monumetric requirements to join

How to join Monumetric to monetize your blog traffic

To be accepted with Monumetric, your blog needs to have a good standing with Google and fulfill a few other requirements.

The main reason for this is that advertisers want to make sure their ads are displayed on high-quality blogs with an engaged readership.

With that said, here are four Monumetric requirements to consider before submitting their online application via the Monumetric website:

1: Minimum traffic requirement

To join Monumetric, your blog needs to have at least 10,000 monthly pageviews.

You can easily check your pageviews in Google Analytics, for example.

In fact, Monumetric offers four different publisher programs based on the amount of traffic you’re getting:

Monumetric review - Minimum traffic requirements to join
  1. Propel Program: 10k – 80k pageviews/month
  2. Ascend Program: 80k – 500k pageviews/month
  3. Stratos Program: 500k – 10mm pageviews/month
  4. Apollo Program: 10mm+ pageviews/month

Each program comes with its own perks and tools. Of course, the more traffic you have, the more Monumetric will help you to maximize your earnings.

Don’t have 10k pageviews yet?

No worries! Here are a couple helpful tools to increase your blog traffic fast:

Pinterest traffic:

If you’ve read a few of my blog posts, you know I’m a huge fan of Pinterest. It’s my #1 tool for generating free, organic traffic to my blogs these days.

KWFinder subscription:

Okay, KWFinder is a tad more expensive but it’s a no-brainer. It’s my go-to tool for finding low-competition keywords for boosting organic traffic through Google.

In other words, KWFinder will help you avoid “difficult” keywords that are unlikely to rank well. Thus, you’ll avoid wasting your time on creating content that will never get the amount of traffic you expect.

2: Blog content and niche

Apart from just your traffic, your blog niche and your content play an important part in Monumetric requirements, too.

Needless to say, your content must be unique and original. Your readers need to find it valuable and useful so that your display ads can attract their attention.

Moreover, it goes without saying that your blog topic and posts can’t be disrespectful or offensive. You’ll find more details in the Google AdSense Content Policies.

3: Initial setup fee

Everyone who joins the Propel Program needs to pay an initial setup fee of $99.

Now, Monumetric uses two payment methods here:

You’ll either pay this upfront using a credit card or they will deduct it from your first earnings. The credit card method is rather new, though, so it might be the standard for all new Propel bloggers.

With around 1,000 – 1,500 daily pageviews, it took me 10 days to pay off my setup fee. So yes, the initial investment in the setup fee paid off–much quicker than I expected.

And again, bear in mind that this fee only applies to the Propel Program with less than 80k pageviews per month. If your blog traffic is just about to hit 80k, you might want to wait until it does to save a few bucks.

4: Technical requirements

Last but not least, Monumetric has two technical requirements you should meet.

  1. Your blog sidebar should be at least 300 pixels wide.
That’s where they’ll place some of their highest-performing ad units. Thus, must have a suitable spot in your sidebar for that.
  2. Your blog must be either a WordPress or a Blogger website.
Monumetric needs to be able to use a few standardized solutions for the Propel Program setup. This helps them implement their ads faster and more efficiently.

Once you’re in the clear with these, it’s time to join Monumetric! Let’s see what Monumetric requirements you should consider after teaming up with them.

Monumetric requirements after you join the network

Ok, so you’ve decided to join Monumetric and your application is on its way? Great, congrats!

Here are a few key Monumetric requirements you should be aware of once you’ve sent in your application:

1: Advertiser approval

First off, Monumetric and their partners will review your blog. They’ll find the most suitable advertisers to maximize your ad revenue in the future.

The approval process can take up to 2-6 weeks, depending on how quickly they hear back from their advertisers. Just be patient here.

Thus, in the meantime, you can peruse through their guides and tutorials, for instance. You’ll find tons of helpful tips for optimizing your blog and creating better content for your readers to make more money with ads.

2: Building your ad strategy

When the advertiser approval is through, a Monumetric rep will get in touch with you.

You have the chance to schedule a call directly with them. Alternatively, you can communicate via email if that’s easier for you.

They’ll help you plan your ad strategy to make sure your earnings will be as high as possible.

Make sure you take this chance to really soak in all their expertise and advice. They can help you figure out what types of ad units will perform best. Also, they’ll come up with suggestions for the optimal placement of your ads.

3: Placing the ads

Once your ad strategy is finalized, it’s time to build and implement the individual ad units on your blog.

With Monumetric, the minimum number of ads per page is six ad units.

Your personal Monumetric rep will help you find the best spots for them. Obviously, you don’t want to display ads in a disruptive way. To avoid this, Monumetric doesn’t display more than 3 ad units on the screen at one time.

And to make things easier for you, they’ll embed the ads to your blog website. Thus, if you’re using WordPress, they’ll need login credentials to install and configure a plugin for this.

4: Working with other brands (sponsored posts)

One of the best ways to monetize your blog is to publish sponsored posts. But can you still work with brands this way when you join a managed display ad network?

Yes, you can!

Monumetric doesn’t restrict your work with brands or other advertisers in any way.

Thus, if brands want to sponsor a blog post on your website, you’re free to work with them as you like. Neat!

5: Ending your contract

When you join an ad network, you don’t want to be stuck in a long-term contract. If things don’t go the way you like, it’s sometimes difficult to switch to another partner.

So, the good news is:

Monumetric doesn’t lock you into a long-term contract. You’re free to stop working with them with a written notice and a 30-day notice period.

But before you change networks, make sure you contact them with any questions or issues you may have. They’ll be happy to help you out with optimizing your ad strategy to boost your earnings.

Also, they can help you adjust your ad units if you’re not happy with how they look. After all, although their earnings depend on your overall ad revenue, it’s still your blog. You’re in control of where you want to display ads to your readers.

Is Monumetric the right ad network for your blog?

Alright, so you know now what Monumetric requirements you should consider before joining the network.

Based on my experience, I can say that they’re easy to work with and super helpful whenever you have a question or two.

When I started working with Monumetric, I had two goals in mind:

  1. Increase my ad income:
I was using AdSense before Monumetric and my ad revenue was super low. It was clear that AdSense wasn’t the right network for my blog niche.
  2. Spend less time optimizing my ads:
AdSense has all the bells and whistles you can wish for. That’s great for someone who knows their way around display advertising. Not so much for someone who doesn’t have the time to learn the optimal way to use them all.

Luckily enough, I achieved both my goals with Monumetric. Yay!

Thus, if you’re looking for an AdSense alternative that supports you with your ad strategy, Monu is definitely one option to consider.

Also, since they’re not as big as Mediavine or AdThrive, I have the feeling that they’re able to provide more personal support to their publishers. But who knows how long that’ll be the case…

How much does Monumetric pay?

Obviously, this is the most interesting part of whether or not you should work with Monumetric.

But before we jump into my Monumetric earning, let’s get one thing clear:

Your earnings will be different from mine. Since every blog and website is different, it’s impossible to draw any accurate conclusions based on how much I’m making.

Nevertheless, it may be helpful to have some sort of a data point for comparison. For example, if you’re thinking about switching from AdSense to a managed ad network like Monumetric, your earnings will increase. Trust me.

Monumetric ad network - Reporting tools and payments

Ok, here we go:

With AdSense, my earnings were somewhere between $1 -2 per 1,000 pageviews. I know I could have made more if I had taken the time to learn my way around all the tools AdSense offered. So, the low ad revenue isn’t just because of them.

However, after switching to Monumetric, my earnings jumped to a whole new level–immediately.

I made between $9 – 10 per 1,000 pageviews with around 1,000 – 1,400 daily pageviews:

Monumetric earnings - How much does Monumetric pay

Now, this wasn’t too astronomical, but quite OK for my blog niche. Compared to AdSense, I was more than happy!

The best part?

The team at Monumetric has taken care of everything for me. They’ve given me regular suggestions and ideas for improving my ad strategy. And they’ve also implemented all changes without me having to lift a finger.

All in all, I’ve been super happy with Monumetric so far. And although they’re not the only display ad network I work with, they’re definitely my go-to partner for optimizing and automating my ad strategy.

How to join Monumetric?

So you feel like giving Monumetric a try? Great!

Start by heading over to the Monumetric website for more information and details about how to join. You’ll find tons of helpful tips in the FAQs, for example.

If you want to join right away, simply fill out and submit their application form to get started:

(Fill in and submit the application form here.)

You also need to provide Monumetric with login credentials to your blog. If you’re using WordPress, you may want to create a new admin user profile for them to use.

When you’ve submitted your data, you’ll get a welcome email from Monumetric. Read it through carefully and get in touch with them with any questions you may have.

And that’s it! You’re all set! Now you just need to have some patience while they review your site together with their advertisers. When that’s done, they’ll contact you to schedule a call for setting up your ads.

Good luck!

Final thoughts: Monumetric requirements to join the network

All in all, the Monumetric requirements for joining and running ads with them are not much different from other major ad networks. Yet, they have a more personal feel to managing their publishers.

The biggest hurdle for new bloggers tends to be the minimum traffic requirement. If you’re not quite at 10k monthly pageviews yet, make sure you check out my post about how to grow your blog traffic fast.

Alternatively, you may want to consider working with another ad network for small publishers.
